The 5-Minute Football Coach #19
Combining to attack, Aggressiveness, Futsal fund
Here are your weekly highlights:
Practice of the week
A 3v3+3 exercise to work on combining in midfield, and passing to wide players to finish. Nice setup with plenty of coaching points!
Topic of the week
How physical should young players be? Should we coach them to be more ‘aggressive’, while still striking the right balance with safety and fun?
This well-written article argues so, and provides concrete examples on how to do this.
“My mission is to inspire kids to play, to love movement, and to become stronger. In order to do so, I have to put kids in environments that are an itty bit uncomfortable – ones that encourage them to problem solve, be creative, and compete.”
Idea of the week
Futsal is, for very good reasons, a bit of a hot topic at the moment. If you happen to be based in England, be aware that the English FA is still accepting applications for the Futsal Fund. This could be a great addition to your coaching programme for next season!
I hope you enjoyed this. Have a great week!
