First, this one-on-one drill should be great to work on quick short passes, with both feet:

Second, an SSG to encourage players to pass forward. As I was taught a while back: first, pass forward to attack, or pass sideways to find space, or pass backwards to keep possession.
💡 Thought of the week
Last but not least, Johan Cruyff on defending: it’s all about space!
