The 5-Minute Football Coach #38
Attacking drill, Winter reflection, Superpowers
Here are your highlights for this week:
Practice of the week
An attacking practice from the world champions - a nice combination of a 1-2 with a 1-2-3

France - passing combination with finishing
Finishing drill with three players with passing combination. Great finishing drill for the end of the training because of fast short passes and fast circulation of the players and changing positions.

Topic of the week
The winter break is a great time to practice a bit of reflection on our coaching.
For a bit of inspiration, have a look at a fellow coach updating his coaching philosophy:

I've not updated my coaching philosophy since the start of my UEFA B about 2 and a half years ago so I thought I'd make a start, this is the first draft so it will need some refining but I'm interested in any feedback people would care to give.

And check out these notes on the principles of playing in possession, with detailed coaching points:

Some scribblings down on paper from our most recent block of learning, ball retention/possession.
Could be broke down more into thirds with more info, just a general idea/thinking of my understanding to better develop the players

Interesting reads which might trigger a thought or two!
Idea of the week
Something for when our team gets back together in early January… What about asking the players what their football superpower is? Great idea!

Mid season player reviews this week, we set our U12s the task of drawing themselves as a footballing superhero and telling us what their footballing superpower is.
We think you'll agree that football isn't their only talent!😍💛💙

I hope you enjoyed this. Have a great week!
