Here are your highlights for this week:

⚽️ Practice of the week

A transitional rondo with 5v2 players from the German national team. Apparently on the lighter side, so more for recovery.

📖 Topic of the week

As young players go from mini-soccer to youth soccer, things get a little bit more serious. It’s still about having fun in a safe environment, but topics like competition and accountability come into play.

So what’s ‘accountability’ and how to best explain it to players? Let’s see Jay Bilas have a go:

A lot of players hear accountability and they think somebody is trying to blame them. That's not what it's about. Accountability means holding each other to a standard that is crucial to becoming the best you can be, individually and collectively. Jay Bilas on accountability:

💡 Idea of the week

What makes a good coach? “No swagger, no ego, just grit. A desire to help the players and to help the team” - wise words from Dave Wright in a recent essay well worth reading. Energy, focus and pride by all means, but not ego.

After all, the margin between losing and winning is so fine...
