Especially as they get into their teenage years, young players can improve their football play by working on core fitness and movement technique. A nice video of exercises they can practice:

Counterpressing, the 6-second rule, playing in triangles and diamonds, and 2 drills. This presentation by SoccerTeamTactics covers a lot of ground, all inspired by Pep Guardiola's work at Barcelona. Well worth a watch
